Research into Newspaper Advertisements

In order to create my newspaper advertisement i did some research into existing newspaper advertisements.

In these two images the title is very clear and adamant, it stands out so immediately the viewer is able to
recognise what the advertisement is about.

The font used in both is big and bold, it stands out on the page and addresses the viewers directly. I also noticed that the pictures are big and support the text, they are visually attractive which makes the advertisement eye-catching.
Lastly the time and date of the production is located in the bottom right hand corner, this gave me an idea of how to set out my newspaper advertisement.

Documentary analysis 1

I will be analysing the technical aspects of this documtary in terms of sound, mis-en-scene, editing and the meaning.

As a young person living in the 21st century, my whole life I have been surrounding by technology, on of which was computers with the ability to use the internet. My generation have been media saturated and consumed by internet usage. Throughout the years a have watched computers change and the internet expand,I find the internet is an extraordinary creation that is like second nature to us but not for others, as in some parts of the world the internet is not existent or the abilty to use it has only become availiable recently. This documentary will explore the internet usage and illustrates how it bridges the gap.

Images of internet usage

At the beginning of the documentary, the audience are exposed quick flashes of the technical aspects that make up a computer. Alongside images of computers and people using them. I think these shots were used to illustrate what the documentary is going to be about the the audience who use the internet. In the first 36 seconds, the audience and topic is established, it illustrates internet usage as a fast pace action as the shots flash quickly along the screen. It shows how the internet is efficient, quick and easy to use and is as simple as clicking a mouse. It also shows how you are able to use the internet in different forms, in shapes of laptops and mobile phone on the move.

These images and the way they were constructed at a fast tempo, suggest and give the audience an idea about the pace and usage of the internet and how important and dependent we are on the internet. By showing laptops and mobile phones, you are able to see the different forms in which you can use the internet and how technology has expanded. It sybolises intelligence and intellect, and shows that ordinary people throught a day to day routine can use the internet.
The music pragmatically supports the tempo and images effectively, as does the voiceover, as he explains, relating to the images how useful and demanding the internet has become.

A medium shot image of an interview

As the documentary begins, the first interview it explains how dependent we are on the internet and how ofen we use it. The mis-en-scene in this interview supports the issue as their is a laptop and a computer. Is a medium shot and the framing is perfect for an interview. As the documentary progesses, it visits Nigeria to explore if there is any knowledge or usage of the internet.

A medium shot of Nigeria

A close up shot showing him holding a phone with internet for the first time.

It states that this country "is not an information highway" and this image illustrates the mis-en-scene and shows how this 3rd world country is less modern and very traditional. The sound throughout the shots shown of Nigeria changes,at the beginning the sound is still fast tempo and the editing is short and quick as there are alot of cutaways, the shots are quicks containing relevent mis-en-scene. Then the music changes to instruments this supports the representation of Nigeria, the shots lengthen and the tempo of the editing and cutaways slow downs. This enables the audience to really enage into the country and how if differes from internet based socities. This has helped me to really understand how important cutaways are, as they give a deeper visual insight into the mis-en-scene and supports the topic.

A long shot of South Korea

This is a contrasting image from nigeria it is stated that " It has the fastest broadband speeds in the world" and " the most wired place on the planet" This is a long shot where you are able to see the busy streets, the mis-en-scene in ths shot supports what is being said, the sound also help set the tone, tempo and mood.
